In short — You own the copyright to the study materials you upload, and Notely uses them only as needed to provide the service. Uploaded materials are not used to train AI models. AI-generated summaries and quizzes are tools to help you study and may not always be accurate. If you haven't used paid features within 7 days of payment, you get a full refund; if you've used them even once, withdrawal is limited. The full text below is the official, legally binding terms.

Article 1 (Purpose)

These terms set out the rights, obligations and responsibilities of Ruleout (the "Company") and members, the conditions and procedures of use, and other necessary matters regarding the use of Notely and all related services (the "Service") provided by the Company.

Article 2 (Definitions)

The terms used in these terms have the following meanings.

  1. "Service" means all of Notely's AI study support services that members can use through the website (notely.kr) and the iOS and Android applications, regardless of device (wired or wireless devices such as PCs, mobile phones and tablets).
  2. "Member" means a person who has agreed to these terms, entered into a service agreement with the Company and been given an account.
  3. "Account" means the email address, or the linked social login information (Google, Apple, Kakao, Naver), registered by a member for identification and use of the Service.
  4. "Study materials" or "member content" means all materials a member uploads, enters or links to the Service, including documents such as PDF, PPT and Word files, YouTube links, lecture recordings and live captions, photos of handwritten notes, text and questions.
  5. "AI output" means results generated by the Service from study materials using artificial intelligence technology, such as summaries, key concepts, quizzes and explanations, flashcards, mind maps and AI tutor answers.
  6. "Free service" means a service the Company provides without separate charge, and "paid service" means a service provided to members who have paid the fees set by the Company (Pro and Max plans).
  7. "Subscription" means a form of use in which a member pays fees for a set period (monthly or yearly) to use a paid service, which automatically renews on the same terms unless canceled.
  8. "Share link" means a URL a member creates so that others can view their study materials or AI output.

Terms not defined in these terms follow the relevant laws and general commercial practice.

Article 3 (Posting and amendment of the terms)

  1. The Company posts the contents of these terms along with its trade name, representative's name, business address, business registration number, contact information and so on, on the Service's initial screen or a linked screen so that members can easily see them.
  2. The Company may amend these terms to the extent that doing so does not violate relevant laws, such as the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions, the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce (the "E-Commerce Act") and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
  3. When the Company amends the terms, it will state the effective date and the reason for the amendment and announce them together with the current terms from 7 days before the effective date until the day before it. However, changes that are unfavorable to members or material will be announced from 30 days before the effective date and notified individually by email, app notification or similar means.
  4. If, when announcing or notifying under the preceding paragraph, the Company clearly stated that members would be deemed to agree unless they express refusal by the effective date, and a member does not explicitly refuse, the member is deemed to have agreed to the amended terms.
  5. Members who do not agree to the amended terms may terminate the service agreement, in which case fees for paid services will be refunded under the refund policy.

Article 4 (Rules outside these terms)

Matters not set out in these terms and the interpretation of these terms follow the individual operating policies set by the Company (the privacy policy, refund policy and others), relevant laws, and commercial practice such as the Content User Protection Guidelines. If an individual operating policy conflicts with these terms, whichever is more favorable to the member prevails.

Article 5 (Membership registration)

  1. The service agreement is concluded when a person who wishes to use the Service agrees to these terms and to the collection and use of personal information, applies for membership, and the Company accepts the application.
  2. You can sign up by registering an email address and password, or by social login with a Google, Apple, Kakao or Naver account.
  3. Persons under 14 years of age may not sign up. The Company will terminate the service agreement for any account confirmed to belong to a person under 14 and destroy the related information without delay.
  4. The Company may refuse, or later terminate the service agreement for, any application that falls under any of the following.
    • Using another person's name, email or social account without permission
    • Providing false information or failing to provide the required information requested by the Company
    • A person who previously lost eligibility under these terms applies to sign up again (unless the Company has approved re-registration)
    • Attempting to sign up by automated means (bots, scripts, etc.)
    • Any other application that violates relevant laws or is made for the purpose of disrupting public order
  5. The Company may defer acceptance if service capacity is insufficient or there are technical problems, until the cause is resolved.

Article 6 (Account management)

  1. Members are responsible for managing their account and password, and must not transfer, lend or share them with any third party.
  2. A paid subscription may be used only by the member who subscribed. The Company may set reasonable usage standards, such as the number of simultaneously connected devices.
  3. If a member becomes aware that their account has been stolen or is being used by a third party, they must notify the Company immediately and follow the Company's instructions. The Company is not responsible for any disadvantage resulting from failure to notify or to follow the instructions.
  4. Responsibility for managing social login accounts follows the terms of the relevant social service, and if use of the social account is discontinued, the member may change their login method in the way set by the Company.

Article 7 (Changes to member information)

Members can view and edit their information anytime on the Settings screen in the Service. The Company is not responsible for any disadvantage arising from a member's failure to update changed information.

Article 8 (Provision of the service)

  1. The Company provides members with the following services.
    • Uploading and managing study materials (PDF, PPT and Word documents, YouTube links, lecture recordings and live captions, photos of handwritten notes, etc.)
    • AI-powered summaries, key concept notes, quizzes and explanations, flashcards (spaced repetition) and mind map generation
    • AI tutor Q&A based on the member's study materials
    • Study history, progress tracking and notifications
    • Share link creation
    • Other services the Company additionally develops or provides through partnerships
  2. The Service is in principle provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. However, it may be temporarily suspended at pre-announced times when necessary, such as for regular maintenance.
  3. The Company may set different upload capacity, monthly generation counts, recording time, available features and so on for each plan, and posts the details on the pricing page.

Article 9 (Changes to and suspension of the service)

  1. The Company may change all or part of the service for substantial operational or technical reasons, and will announce the changes and the reasons at least 7 days in advance (30 days if the change is unfavorable to members).
  2. The Company may temporarily suspend the service in the event of equipment maintenance, inspection or replacement, breakdowns, communication outages, failures of external AI model providers, natural disasters or other force majeure. In such cases the Company will give prior notice, or, where unavoidable, notice without delay afterward.
  3. If the Company ends the entire service, for example because it is closing its business, it will announce this at least 30 days before the end date, inform members of the period and method for downloading their study materials and AI-generated content, and refund the fees for the remaining subscription period.
  4. Compensation when paid services are interrupted for reasons attributable to the Company follows the criteria set out in the Refund policy.

Article 10 (Paid services and payment)

  1. The plans offered by the Company are as follows, with details posted on the pricing page. Displayed prices include VAT.
    PricingMonthly subscriptionAnnual subscription
    Free₩0—
    Pro₩9,900/month₩70,800/year (₩5,900/month)
    Max₩19,900/month₩142,800/year (₩11,900/month)
  2. Paid services can be paid for on the web by credit card, debit card, mobile wallets and similar methods through [payment gateway], and in the mobile app through in-app purchase on the Apple App Store or Google Play.
  3. For in-app purchases, parts of the payment, renewal, cancellation and refund process follow the policies of the relevant app store operator, and the Company explains how on the refund policy page.
  4. The Company may change its fees. In that case it will announce the change at least 30 days before it takes effect and notify existing subscribers individually. Increased fees apply from the next renewal date after the notice, and members who do not agree may cancel their subscription before renewal.

Article 11 (Auto-renewing subscriptions)

  1. Unless the member cancels, a paid subscription automatically renews on the same terms at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual), and the fee is charged to the payment method the member registered.
  2. At the time of payment, the Company clearly discloses whether the subscription auto-renews, the renewal cycle, the renewal fee and how to cancel, and obtains the member's consent. For annual subscriptions, the Company notifies the member of the upcoming renewal and the amount by email or app notification at least 7 days before the renewal date.
  3. When a discount promotion converts to a paid subscription, the Company notifies the member of the conversion date and the amount to be charged at least 7 days before the conversion.
  4. Members can cancel auto-renewal at any time in Settings > Manage subscription in the app (for in-app purchases, in each app store's subscription management menu). After cancellation, no further charges are made from the next billing date, and the member can keep using the paid service until the end of the period already paid for.
  5. If a renewal payment fails because, for example, the payment method's limit is exceeded or it has expired, the Company will notify the member and may retry the payment for a certain period. If payment still has not gone through after that period, the account switches to the Free plan.

Article 12 (Withdrawal of subscription and refunds)

  1. Under the Electronic Commerce Act and other applicable laws, members may withdraw their subscription within 7 days of paying for a paid service. However, because paid services are digital content, withdrawal is restricted under Article 17(2)(5) of the Electronic Commerce Act once a paid feature has been used at least once after payment.
  2. The Company lets members try the main features of the paid service in advance through the Free plan, and before payment it states that withdrawal is restricted once the service has been used.
  3. Detailed criteria for withdrawal, cancellation and refunds (what counts as using a paid feature, refunds when canceling an annual subscription early, compensation for service outages, restrictions for abuse, etc.) are set out in the Refund policy.
  4. If a minor pays for a paid service without the consent of a legal guardian, the minor or the legal guardian may cancel the contract. However, cancellation may be restricted if the minor used deception to make it appear that they were an adult or had the guardian's consent, or if the payment was within the scope of property the guardian allowed the minor to dispose of (such as an allowance).
  5. The Company processes refunds within 3 business days of receiving a withdrawal request, and within 7 business days of finalizing the refund amount for other refunds. The actual time it takes to appear for each payment method may vary depending on the card issuer or payment processor.

Article 13 (Rights to member content)

  1. Copyright and other rights in the study materials members upload belong to the member or the rightful owner. The Company claims no ownership of member content.
  2. Members permit the Company to store, copy, convert (text extraction, speech recognition, image recognition, etc.), analyze and process member content within the scope of the following purposes. This permission is free of charge and non-exclusive, and ends when the member deletes the content or closes their account.
    • Generating the AI content the member requests and providing it to the member
    • Syncing across the member's devices, backup and disaster recovery
    • Providing viewing access through share links the member creates
    • Operating the service safely, including detecting security threats and handling reports of illegal content
  3. The Company does not use member content to train AI models, and takes contractual measures so that the external AI model providers it uses do not use member content for model training either.
  4. To the extent permitted by applicable law, rights to AI-generated content belong to the member who requested it, and the member may freely use it for study purposes. However, where AI-generated content includes third-party works from the original study materials, the rights to those parts remain with the original rights holders.
  5. Members warrant that they have the lawful right to use the study materials they upload. Lecture materials, textbooks, lecture recordings and the like must be used within the scope of private use under copyright law or the rights holder's permission, and where the consent of an instructor or others is required to record a lecture, the member must obtain it.
  6. If the Company receives a copyright infringement notice from a rights holder, it may temporarily block share links and similar access to the content in accordance with the procedures of the Copyright Act, and will notify the member.

Article 14 (AI-generated content and its limitations)

AI-generated content is a tool to support your studies. For important exams or assignments, always check the original materials, textbooks and your instructor's guidance as well.
  1. AI-generated content is produced probabilistically by AI models and may contain content that is untrue, inaccurate or missing the context of the original material (so-called "hallucinations"). Speech recognition results (captions) and handwriting recognition results may also contain errors.
  2. The Company does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of AI-generated content, or its fitness for any particular purpose (such as passing an exam or improving grades).
  3. As a rule, the AI tutor's answers are based on the study materials the member provides, but general knowledge may also be used, and where possible the Company shows the location in the material that the answer is based on.
  4. AI-generated content is not a substitute for professional advice such as medical, legal, tax or investment advice.
  5. Members who find errors in AI-generated content can report them through the in-service reporting feature, and the Company uses these reports to improve service quality. Even then, members' study materials are not used for model training.

Article 15 (The Company's intellectual property)

Intellectual property rights in the service and the software, design, trademarks, logos and content created by the Company that make up the service belong to the Company or the rightful owners. Members may not copy, distribute, modify, reverse engineer or commercially use them without the Company's prior consent.

Article 16 (Prohibited conduct)

Members must not engage in any of the following:

  1. Stealing or misusing another person's personal information, account or payment method
  2. Distributing, transmitting or selling other people's works, such as textbooks, lecture materials, lecture recordings or exam questions, to the general public through share links or other means without the rights holder's permission
  3. Cheating by using the service in ways prohibited by your school, institution or exam administrator, such as during an exam, and violating school rules or research ethics by submitting AI-generated content as your own original work
  4. Recording other people's voices, such as when recording lectures, without the consent required by applicable law or school rules
  5. Uploading, or requesting the generation of, obscene material, violent or hateful content, material that defames others or invades their privacy, or illegal information
  6. Using the service to spread malware, or attempting to bypass or disable the service's security systems
  7. Accessing the service by methods the Company has not authorized, such as crawling, scraping or automation tools, or disrupting the service by sending large volumes of requests
  8. Abusing AI generation features to create content that violates the usage policies of the Company or external AI model providers, or attempting to bypass safeguards through prompt manipulation or similar means
  9. Using the service for commercial purposes without the Company's consent, such as sharing a paid account among many people or reselling the service
  10. Any other conduct that violates applicable law or these Terms

Article 17 (Restrictions on use)

  1. If a member violates Article 16, the Company may take measures in stages according to the severity of the violation, such as a warning, making the content or share link private, restricting some features, temporarily suspending use, or terminating the service agreement.
  2. Notwithstanding paragraph 1, the Company may immediately terminate the service agreement in the case of serious violations or violations of law, such as identity theft, payment fraud, spreading malware or distributing illegal information.
  3. When restricting use, the Company notifies the member of the reason, the duration and how to appeal. Members may appeal within 14 days of receiving the notice, and if the Company finds the appeal justified, it will restore access immediately.
  4. Even if the service agreement is terminated for reasons attributable to the member, the Company will refund fees for the unused period in accordance with applicable law and the refund policy, but may deduct any damages the Company incurred because of the member's violation.

Article 18 (Account deletion)

  1. Members can request account deletion at any time via Settings > Account > Delete account in the service or by email (help@notely.kr), and the Company processes the request immediately.
  2. Before deleting their account, members can download their study materials and AI-generated content using the export feature. On deletion, member content and personal information are deleted within 30 days, and backup data is deleted within up to 30 additional days. However, information that must be retained under applicable law is kept for the period set out in the Privacy policy.
  3. If a member deletes their account during a paid subscription, auto-renewal is canceled and refunds follow the refund policy. In-app purchase subscriptions may need to be canceled separately in each app store, and the Company will remind the member of this when they delete their account.

Article 19 (The Company's obligations)

  1. The Company does not engage in conduct prohibited by applicable law or these Terms, and does its best to provide the service continuously and reliably.
  2. To protect members' personal information and study materials, the Company maintains security systems such as encryption in transit and at rest and least-privilege access, and publishes and complies with its Privacy policy.
  3. The Company does not view members' study materials without their consent. Only when the member has explicitly allowed access for customer support, when there is a request under law, or when it is unavoidable to deal with security issues or illegal content, does the Company access them, to the minimum extent necessary, and it keeps a record of that access.
  4. If the Company finds opinions or complaints raised by members about the service to be justified, it will address them and inform the member of the process and outcome by email or other means.
  5. Before payment, the Company clearly discloses the fees for paid services, the auto-renewal terms, and how to cancel and get a refund.

Article 20 (Members' obligations)

  1. Members must comply with applicable law, these Terms, and the usage guidelines and operating policies the Company announces.
  2. Members must make sure the study materials they upload do not infringe the rights of third parties, and must set the visibility carefully when creating share links.
  3. Members must understand the limitations of AI-generated content and use it to support their studies.
  4. Members must keep their account information secure and must not share it with others.

Article 21 (Protection of personal information)

The Company protects members' personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act and other applicable laws. Matters concerning the collection, use, provision, outsourcing and international transfer of personal information are set out in the Privacy policy.

Article 22 (Notices to members)

  1. The Company may send notices to members via the email address they registered, app push notifications, in-service notifications and similar means.
  2. When notifying members in general, the Company may post the notice in the service announcements for at least 7 days in place of individual notice. However, matters that are unfavorable to members or have a significant impact on them will be notified individually.

Article 23 (Damages)

  1. If the Company or a member violates these Terms and causes damage to the other party, the party at fault must compensate for that damage.
  2. Compensation criteria for when paid services could not be used for reasons attributable to the Company follow the Content User Protection Guidelines and the Refund policy.
  3. If a third party files a damages claim or lawsuit against the Company because of a member's prohibited conduct under Article 16, that member must indemnify the Company at their own responsibility and expense. This does not apply where the Company acted intentionally or negligently.

Article 24 (Disclaimer)

  1. The Company is not liable when it cannot provide the service due to force majeure beyond its reasonable control, such as natural disasters, war, power outages, or service interruptions by telecommunications carriers, cloud providers or external AI model providers. However, the Company will make efforts to minimize the impact, and compensation for paid members follows the refund policy.
  2. The Company is not responsible for problems using the service caused by reasons attributable to the member (such as careless account management or issues with their device or network).
  3. The Company is not responsible for damages members suffer (such as exam scores or grades) due to the limitations of AI-generated content described in Article 14, unless the Company acted intentionally or with gross negligence.
  4. The Company has no obligation to intervene in the content or legality of study materials members upload, or in disputes between members or between members and third parties arising through share links or other means, and is not responsible for any resulting damages.
  5. The disclaimers in this article do not apply to damages caused by the Company's intent or gross negligence, or to damages for which exemption from liability is not permitted under applicable law.

Article 25 (Dispute resolution)

  1. To handle members' opinions and complaints promptly, the Company operates a customer support channel (email help@notely.kr, phone 02-0000-0000).
  2. The Company handles complaints received from members as a priority, and if prompt handling is difficult, it immediately informs the member of the reason and the expected timeline.
  3. Disputes between the Company and members may be submitted to mediation by a dispute mediation body commissioned by the Fair Trade Commission or a city/provincial governor (such as the Korea Consumer Agency) under Article 32 of the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce and Article 15 of its Enforcement Decree, or by the Content Dispute Resolution Committee under the Content Industry Promotion Act.

Article 26 (Governing law and jurisdiction)

  1. The service agreement between the Company and members and these Terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea.
  2. Lawsuits between the Company and members related to use of the service shall be filed with the court having jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act.
