Ruleout (the "Company") sets out the following criteria for withdrawal, cancellation and refunds in accordance with the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce (the "Electronic Commerce Act"), the Content User Protection Guidelines and other applicable laws. This policy is effective as part of the Terms of service.
At a glance
1. Scope and plans
This policy applies to Notely paid subscriptions (Pro, Max). All subscriptions renew automatically on the same terms unless canceled.
| Pricing | Monthly subscription | Annual subscription | Monthly list price for refund calculation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | ₩0 | — | — |
| Pro | ₩9,900/month | ₩70,800/year (₩5,900/month) | ₩9,900 |
| Max | ₩19,900/month | ₩142,800/year (₩11,900/month) | ₩19,900 |
All prices include VAT.
2. Withdrawal within 7 days of payment
Within 7 days of the payment date (including auto-renewal payment dates), if no paid features have been used since that payment, members may withdraw their subscription and receive a full refund of the amount paid.
| Within 7 days of payment | Monthly subscription | Annual subscription |
|---|---|---|
| No paid feature use | Full refund | Full refund |
| Paid features used | No refund (canceling stops billing from the next payment) | No withdrawal; refunds only under the early cancellation rules in section 5 |
- If the service provided differs from what was displayed or advertised, or was performed differently from the contract, you may withdraw within 30 days of becoming aware of this (and within 3 months of receiving the service), regardless of whether you have used it (Article 17(3) of the Electronic Commerce Act).
3. What counts as using paid features
- "Using a paid feature" means using any of AI generation (Summary, Quiz, Flashcards, Mind map, Assignment AI, etc.), the AI tutor, or lecture recording/transcription at least once after the payment in question. Use is determined by the usage history recorded in the Company's systems, and the Company will share that history at the member's request.
- Simply logging in, viewing or downloading existing materials, or changing settings does not count as use.
- The Company lets members try the main features before paying through the Free plan, and states on the payment screen and in this policy that withdrawal is restricted once the service has been used (Article 17(6) of the Electronic Commerce Act).
- When a refund is made through withdrawal, the subscription is canceled immediately and switches to the Free plan. Study materials you've already created are not deleted and can still be used within the limits of the Free plan.
4. Canceling a monthly subscription
- Monthly subscriptions can be canceled at any time, and after cancellation you won't be charged from the next billing date.
- Even after canceling, you can keep using paid features until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- For monthly subscriptions more than 7 days past the payment date, no partial (prorated) refund is given for the remaining period. However, if you couldn't use the service properly for reasons attributable to the Company, such as a service outage, the Company will compensate you under section 9 or refund the remaining period on a prorated basis.
5. Canceling an annual subscription early
Annual subscriptions can be canceled at any time with a refund of the remaining amount, even if more than 7 days have passed since payment or if withdrawal is restricted because paid features were used within 7 days, and there are no cancellation fees. Because annual subscriptions are discounted from the monthly list price, the period already used is calculated at the monthly list price.
Monthly list price: Pro ₩9,900 / Max ₩19,900. Months used is the number of months elapsed from the payment date to the date you request cancellation, and any partial month counts as one month. If the result is ₩0 or less, there is no refund, and no additional charge is made.
| Example | Calculation | Refund amount |
|---|---|---|
| Pro annual, canceled after 2 months | ₩70,800 − (2 × ₩9,900) | ₩51,000 |
| Pro annual, canceled after 5 months | ₩70,800 − (5 × ₩9,900) | ₩21,300 |
| Max annual, canceled after 3 months | ₩142,800 − (3 × ₩19,900) | ₩83,100 |
| Max annual, canceled after 6 months | ₩142,800 − (6 × ₩19,900) | ₩23,400 |
Once the refund is complete, the subscription ends immediately and switches to the Free plan. Instead of a refund, you can also keep using the remaining period and just turn off auto-renewal. You can choose either option on the cancellation screen.
6. App Store and Google Play payments
If you subscribed through in-app purchase in the mobile app, payments and refunds are handled by Apple or Google, so each store's refund policy and procedures apply. Because the Company can't directly access the store's payment information, it may not be able to issue the refund on the store's behalf.
App Store (iPhone·iPad)
- Cancel subscription: device Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions > Notely > Cancel subscription
- Request a refund: sign in to Apple's "Report a Problem" page (reportaproblem.apple.com) with your Apple Account > choose "Request a refund" > select the reason and the subscription, then submit
Google Play (Android)
- Cancel subscription: Google Play app > Profile > Payments and subscriptions > Subscriptions > Notely > Cancel subscription
- Request a refund: on the Google Play website, select the order in your order history and choose "Request a refund" or "Report a problem." Under Google Play's policy, the Company can sometimes process refunds directly, so send your order number (starting with GPA) to help@notely.kr and we'll help.
If the store declines your refund but you're eligible under this policy, contact help@notely.kr and the Company will compensate you by whatever means it can, such as extending your subscription.
7. How to request a refund
- Directly in the app or on the web — Settings > Manage subscription > Cancel subscription or Request a refund. You can check the expected refund amount before submitting.
- Email — send your account email (or sign-in method), payment date and reason for the refund (optional) to help@notely.kr.
- In-app purchase subscriptions follow the store-specific steps in section 6.
8. Processing deadlines and timelines by payment method
The Company cancels the payment or issues the refund within 3 business days of receiving a request for withdrawal within 7 days, and within 7 business days of finalizing the refund amount for other refunds, such as early cancellation of an annual subscription. If the Company delays a refund for withdrawal without good reason, it pays late-payment interest for the delay under Article 18 of the Electronic Commerce Act. When the refund actually shows up depends on the payment method.
| Payment method | Refund method | Time to appear (after processing) |
|---|---|---|
| Credit card | Payment cancellation (authorization reversal) | 3–7 business days (depending on the card issuer, deducted from next month's statement) |
| Debit card | Payment canceled, then refunded to the linked account | 3–7 business days |
| Mobile wallet | Payment canceled and refunded to the method used (card, points or bank account) | Immediately to 5 business days |
| Mobile carrier billing | Current-month payments are canceled; earlier payments are refunded to a bank account | Current month: immediately / bank refund: 3–5 business days |
| Bank transfer | Refunded to an account in the member's name | Within 3 business days |
| App Store·Google Play | Per store policy | After store approval, per each store's timeline |
9. Compensation for outages caused by the Company
If you couldn't use paid services for reasons attributable to the Company, we compensate you as follows under the Content User Protection Guidelines. Compensation is applied automatically once the Company confirms the outage, with no separate request needed, and the details are shared in an announcement and by email.
| Type of outage | Compensation |
|---|---|
| Service down for 4+ consecutive hours without prior notice | Free extension of 3x the downtime |
| Downtime beyond pre-announced scheduled maintenance | Extension of 3x the overrun |
| 72+ hours of total downtime in one month | At the member's choice, a 3x extension or cancellation with a prorated refund for the remaining period |
| Loss of member data (study materials, history) caused by the Company | Help with recovery; if it can't be recovered, a refund up to that month's fee or an equivalent extension of the subscription period |
Outages caused by force majeure such as natural disasters, full outages of telecom carriers, external AI model providers or cloud providers beyond the Company's reasonable control, and problems with the member's device or network are not eligible for compensation. However, the Company will make efforts to minimize the impact.
10. Cancellation of payments by minors
Notely is only open to users aged 14 and older. If a minor under 19 pays for a paid service without a legal guardian's consent, the minor or the legal guardian can cancel the payment and receive a full refund (Article 5 of the Civil Act).
- How to apply: send the minor's account information, payment history and a document proving you are the legal guardian (such as a family relationship certificate) to help@notely.kr.
- However, cancellation may be restricted if the minor used deception to appear to be an adult or to have the guardian's consent, or if the payment was within the scope the guardian allowed (such as an allowance).
11. Refund restrictions and abuse
- The remaining period of a monthly subscription more than 7 days past the payment date (unless the Company is at fault)
- Monthly subscriptions where a paid feature was used at least once, even within 7 days of payment
- Subscription periods or coupon amounts provided free through events or promotions (only the paid portion is refunded under this policy)
- When use has been restricted for conduct prohibited by the Terms of service (account sharing or resale, payment fraud, mass generation using automation tools, etc.) — even then, the amount for the unused period is refunded, but any damages incurred by the Company may be deducted.
If the Company determines that the refund system has been abused, for example by creating multiple accounts or repeatedly paying and withdrawing, it may restrict future paid purchases by that member and related accounts. If you paid a discounted price, the refund is calculated based on the amount actually paid.
12. Contact and dispute mediation
For questions about refunds, contact customer support (email help@notely.kr, phone 02-0000-0000). If a dispute between the Company and a member can't be resolved amicably, you can apply for mediation to the Korea Consumer Agency (1372, no area code), the Content Dispute Resolution Committee (1588-2594), the E-Commerce Mediation Committee, and others.
Addendum
This refund policy takes effect on October 12, 2026. If the policy is changed in a way that's unfavorable to members, the change will be announced 30 days before it takes effect, and subscriptions paid for before the change remain under the policy in effect at the time of payment.
